What's New?

Several people have asked 'What are you working on?" Well......

I've been a little obsessed with knitting for my future grand-daughter. I was working at Yarnings today and had some down time to take some pictures of my completed items. First, the Matinee Coat from Debbie Bliss.
I had a little bit of time to knit as well so made one bootie to match. The ballet pumps from Sublime.

Adorable!
Next is a simple garter stitch 'side to side' sweater. It's a free download by DROPS design. I used Tofutsies sock yarn. I bought the cute butterfly buttons at Yarnings today.
I am currently working on the Sunday Brunch Jacket. The jacket and hat pictured is actually the set I made for my grand niece Claire.

The hat and 'mary jane' are new. I hope to finish the jacket and other shoe this weekend. I still need to find buttons. Yarnings didn't have what I was looking for:-(
Next week I'll start Logan's Christmas sweater and continue to work on my sister Susan's Christmas present:-)

False Start and Logan

Okay, so my first Olympic weekend was not very productive. Friday night I was off to a good start until I started the pattern on row 17 and realized I had miss read 158 for 153. A 3 can look like an 8, right!?!?! Anyway, at 10PM I started over. Saturday morning, Tim and I drove to Bloomsburg. I did knit in the car. Had a hair appointment with Corinna, picked up Logan:-), drove to Lewisburg to wish Grammy Fetter (Tim's mom) Happy 86th Birthday. Drove back to Hatfield, didn't knit (kept Logan entertained) and arrived home around 7PM. The rest of the weekend was all Logan. Sledding with Logan,

building towers with Logan,

looking at pictures of Logan, etc...

Met Taylor in the Pocono's to send Logan home at 1Pm today.

Have knit since about 3PM.

Looking forward to knitting through the Olympics tonight. Pairs skating:-)!!

HAPPY KNITTING!!

Let 'the Games' begin!!

All day I have been going back and forth, should I attempt the CENTRAL PARK COAT from DOUBLE KNITTING, Reversible two-color designs by M'Lou Baber or actually ENJOY the Olympic Games while still challenging myself by knitting the Crown Prince Square Shawl from Knitted Lace of Estonia by Nancy Bush? This is a shawl I made for my sister Laura for Christmas, during the summer when I wasn't working or taking a 3 credit class, all of which I will have to do during the next 17 days!?! Well at 7:41PM I decided to knit the shawl for myself. So at 8PM, even though the Opening Ceremony seems to be late, I cast on, for the KITTING OLYMPICS so wonderfully spear headed by the Yarn Harlot. (Brenda and Tammi, I hope you are on board too!)

I'm going to try to update my progress and encourage others to join in.
PS, Don't you just love Bob Costas:-)

Intarsia Scarf Class

Hello fellow knitters,

I am posting some pictures of the Intarsia Scarf I designed for the Intarsia Scarf class at Yarnings. For those of you in the class I hope these pictures will help you visualize the final project as you knit.

The small single flower is the other end of the scarf. Hope you are all having fun knitting the scarf.

I can't write on this blog without including a picture of Logan in his Christmas sweater:-) We were playing ring-around-the-rosie with cousin Claire.

Happy knitting!
Janet

Sister's Knit-a-long

Hi Girls,
I hope you find this video helpful.  The knitting seems fast to me but slows down when I'm actually adding the color.  Don't panic!
Video 1 (Row one of chart-knit)
Video 2 (Row two of chart- purl)

When you get to Row 6 (WS purl) you will notice that when doing the bud you will want to carry both the medium pink and the straw together as you purl the dark pink.  This way the medium pink will be in the right location when you are on Row 7.

Summertime, Summertime

The summer of 2009 is turning out to have very high highs and very low lows.
Our family just got back from the best vacation ever.
We went to San Diego and loved every minute of it.

When we returned home, my mother developed a very bad infection and has been hospitalized ever since. The situation is very sad and we are not hopeful.

This past weekend we had our 2009 Lock Haven reunion.
It is always good to get together and it seems like no time has passed since our college days.

This weekend is the Eagles Mere Arts Festival and I am feeling a lot of pressure to finish up some more sale items.

The next high will be seeing The American Idol tour with my darling daughter (Katie) and her friend Liz.

I just hope and pray that my mother becomes the next high and she is able to pull through this.
